Clarke

Ella Clarke is a designer working across architecture, theatre and the arts.
Ella trained in architecture at the University of Cambridge and the London School of Architecture and has a wide range of experience working for internationally-renowned and award-winning practices. She currently teaches in the first and second year design studios at Coventry University and works on projects in the city and wider Midlands area, London and the North-East.
Her design experience in architectural practice ranges from concept stage through to leading construction on-site. As well as working on large-scale schemes she has a passion for working with local communities and collaborating with others to realise designs.
Ella also practices in theatre set design and construction alongside costume design and fabrication.
Recent installations have combined experience across both disciplines, working with a range of materials, spaces and collaborators.
At the core of Ella’s ethos is placing people at the heart of designs, creating spaces that engage with those that use them. Whether this is blurring the boundary between audience and performer or creating a user-orientated response to an architectural brief, she believes understanding the way spaces are used is the key to effective design.
