RIBA Show Windows: Boundless Hope
Project designer | for EDG Property and RIBA West Midlands with Coventry City of Culture
A collaboration with Abby Clarke
We were one of four architectural teams selected to create installations as part of the RIBA Show Windows series in Coventry. Working closely with local developer EDG Property, we developed a design that was installed on their live construction site at Ironmonger Row. The piece acts as a visual spectacle that marks the transformation of Ironmonger Square, and is part of a wider goal to invite residents to explore and enjoy public spaces in the city centre.
Titled Boundless Hope, the installation celebrates growth and change in the heart of the city. Working with the theme of Hope, the installation uses standard construction materials to recreate the sense of energy and movement involved in the transformation of Coventry city centre. Smaller triangles in the first floor windows break out and up onto the scaffolding framework creating a directional burst of energy that invites the viewer to look upwards. By night, illuminations transform the facade, highlighting the changing cityscape. The installation will evolve over time as the construction of the building continues.
